Maxi dresses and FOREVER 21

I am now converted! I was ignoring Forever 21 bec. I knew that the price points will make me shop endlessly and i would totally get depressed if I couldn't fit.

A few days before my b-day my office mates dragged me to the newly opened Forever 21 in Makati. As soon as I entered the store I was dashing to the huge assortment of Maxi dresses. To my surprise I was only a Large! That was not the only thing that got me shopping, the prices were amazing. Nothing was above 1000.

I was also lucky that they had some sale item. Imagine a nice jersey form fitting Maxi dress for only 525 pesos.

You'll sure find me in Forever 21 for a quick-cheap fashion update.

Chedeng and my boots

When the warning for typhoon chedeng hit my 1st thoughts boots time. 1st I wanted to wear my BOTAS from GAP. But it was still too hot and dry for it. Next solution was my half boots from Nine West that looked like UGGS.

When wearing my boots I try to match it with light weight tops so I won't look too heavy.

(Apologies for the post, we were making fun of the model feeling pictures of most people online)

What made this outfit work was the Forever 21 yellow top that I got for only 365pesos and the accessories with at total cost 700pesos. I am lovin' Forever 21 for its pricing and sizes. I am only (so far) a LRG in their regular items.

The leggings are from Zara when their Large was a real large. And boots from Nine West.

On another note: Praise God that the storm did not hit land. But let's try to connect NGO's or red cross to help those who got affected in Bicol and the rest of our brothers and sisters up north.

Men's Tee

Wearing boy shirts is tricky when your a plus size. More often than not it just makes you look bigger. Not to mention likee you just got out of bed and not in a good way.

Here's 2 tips I learned the hard way thru hits and misses.

1. Go for vintage feel t-shirts with heavy jersey feel (reccomendation: hit the men's wear for this one esp. the limited edition area). Why? because the heavier jersey will fall better along your shoulders and chest, skips the stomach and give a better over all form. The vintage style will make the statement of the look you are trying to put together. When I do a t-shirt look I make the shirt speak out, relax is the over all concept. So I avoid wearing any accessories.

Here's I am wearing a Dockers(R) limited edition K1 Tee which I borrowed from my Husband. I had to pear this with heels as I was attending fashion week.

2. Just go 1 size bigger. Don't over do the 80's style t-shirt over size look. As what the look says it's ment to make you look 2 sizes bigger. And since I am already big I have no plans to look any bigger. So for this I only go 1 size bigger. And highly reccommended is buy from the men's section of basic t-shirt. It will complement your shoulders and chest. Here I paired it my maxi dress as I needed something to go out during a windy day at the beach.

Street Fashion

Here's a shout out to my office mate Rhea Akil for her gorgeous hair yesterday. Big hair complements anyone-I always say.

Also she's rockin' a Dockers(R) fedora.

Jeans

JEANS THAT CAN FIT MY HIPS

Have you been looking for that perfect pair of jeans? If you have measurements like mine that’s 36waist and 42 hips. Looking for that pair of jeans can be lead to depression.

This was until the Levi’s curve ID. Serious, I used to buy from the men’s section of Levi's or from one of double digits area of Marks and Spencer and Gap.
In the New Levi's Curve ID fit I am only a size 31! under the Demi Fit. What joy! Did i mention I fitted into the skinny jeans!

What's great about these jeans is that it hugs my hips just right. Maybe hence the tag line of Levi's
"Its about the Shape not the Size"

The fit isn't tight on the hips, crotch, and thighs. The denim doesn't feel heavy or coarse. I literally can run with my little boy with these ones.

Here’s a butt shoot to prove it and some silly photo's taken in the ofc. with another curvy lady.

For more info on the Levi’s Curve ID go to your nearest Levi’s store (Ayala gloreitta, Greenbelt 5, SM department stores, Sm North Edsa, and Ayala Trinoma to name a few). Or check out their Facebook page.

AVON

We headed to the beach about 2 weekends ago to celebrate my dad’s 60th bday. I’ve been so excited about this because of 2 maxi dresses that have been my beach uniform for the past 2 years (even before the Maxi dress trend).

The problem is that maxi dresses don’t love me back. The reason is that maxi dresses are like suman wrappers and they hug every curve of a woman's form. This won't be a problem if I was a size 6. But I am a size 16! With matching post pregnancy tummy and hips.

The solution was in a little product that wasn't as pricey as spanx. It's the Avon Girdle about 450pesos. Enough for a mommy's budget.

These tummy lifting panties lift and form without that usual pain on the mid rib area that's commonly associated with Girdles. The bones constructed into the product are very soft and flex's enough to get you that breathing space you need. And lastly the fabric is air breathable, thin and comfortable. So no sweaty tummies. I can honestly say I’ve worn them for a whole day and didn’t faint!

I’ve also worn them on the beach. That’s right, on the beach and I didn’t die from heat stroke. Some may find what it did a bit extreme. But it was worth my husbands looks and my pictures. And if your a working mom like me, vacations are hard to come by. And those pictures are beyond priceless.

See the results for your self.

Til next vacation

HELLO INTERNET

This blog comes as a foreign language to me as someone speaking Chinese, this is bec. I am old school. I don’t do social media only until my little boy was born and I had to share pictures to my relatives and friends abroad.
I write down my reminders on note pads, I keep calling cards, and post reminders cork boards.
Yes that even means I don’t own a gadget that connects to the Internet 24/7. Then did I mention I have a 14month old little boy and a house to run on top of my demanding work with limited time for myself.
So why on earth start a blog?

Like what the profile says, I turned 31 and while updating my look I found a few victories and a lot of losses in the world of fashion. And it's frustrating! So I want to share information or better yet trade secrets with women, real women, on what can work on big bodies like mine.

Just expect me to be honest on my personal finds. In the end fashion is suppose to be fun.

Thanks for taking the time and enjoy.
